EPIDEMIOLOGIST

Position Description: As an Epidemiologist you will be expected to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the U.S. government organization. The primary objective is to provide contractor services and deliverables through the performance of technical assistance directly to the Ministry of Public Health. This includes developing the capacity of medical doctors in the field of epidemiology who can effectively respond to the health problem needs of their countries and to improve global-capacity outbreak investigations and responses.

Salary Grade: Varies upon experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Three years of professional experience
• A PhD in epidemiology or a medical degree with advanced studies in epidemiology
• The ability to obtain, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data, along with the capability of organizing and presenting data in written and verbal forms
• Experience in outbreak investigation and response
• Expert knowledge and practical experience of epidemiology and public health surveillance in field situations
• The ability to teach sound public health practices, including descriptive and analytic epidemiology and surveillance principles with excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively as a core team member in an established culturally diverse environments
• The ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of governmental officials
